Hello! I’m Sammy.

A 20-something living in London, after moving in pursuit of life experience, wild adventures and captivating stories.

As you might have gathered, the current chapter in the works is the one about the time I needed brain surgery. And whilst it sounds terribly dramatic, and is very much a work-in-progress (practicing patience and finding my new “normal”) I’m tumour free and over the worst of recovery.

I know that everyone has different experiences with a brain tumour, and that I had one of the “better ones” since it was benign. But I do also know that living with a low-grade tumour, and taking that “watchful wait” approach, can be just as challenging. This is just my story and I hope that by speaking out it raises awareness of the cancer that is often forgotten about, and inspires others to share their own experiences too.

My tumour experience has taught me so much in the way of seeing, and seeking, the beauty in every situation, slowing down and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. And whilst choosing to keep my diagnosis relatively secret at first, I designed the ‘Something Good Is About to Happen’ bracelet as a daily reminder that everything would be ok because better days were on the way. Wearing it daily, at the start of 2019, sparked an idea to turn it into something that could continue to help and inspire others on their own journeys.

Now with different quotes, and plans to extend the line, as well as documenting my personal experience, BITB plans to empower people all over to do, trust and breathe. And by donating 10% of every sale to Braintrust, these daily reminders not only provide little boosts to your own life, ahead of whatever daily challenges you may face, but they also continue to support others navigating a brain tumour diagnosis.

Whether you know me personally and just want to see how I’m doing, or you’re currently on your own brain tumour journey and want reassurance that you’re absolutely not alone, thanks for stopping by and please say hello! X
